EMPOWERING STUDENT ATHLETES
Coach Calvin Phillips

The Calvin Phillips Scholarship Foundation is being established in honor of the late Coach Calvin Phillips to continue his legacy to help student athletes be successful in continuing their higher education after completing high school. Calvin Phillips coached for 42 years in the state of Texas in eight different school districts. He coached and worked on both the administrative level as an assistant principal at the junior high level, a high school principal, an athletic director, a high school football coach and high school basketball coach. Calvin was very involved with his students impacting their lives through coaching, counseling, and teaching them in all phases of their academic and athletic careers. Coach Phillips was a very strict disciplinary and taught kids to be structured and respectful on and off the court. He encouraged everyone to be their best self in pursuing their goals in school and in life. He was a great encourager not only to the students but with his colleagues as well. Coach Phillips was a great leader and impacted a lot of student athletes under his leadership. Several students continued their education endeavors and became very successful in their career paths. Several of his previous students pursued careers in coaching and other educational positions. He was a great role model and very passionate about creating relationships with his students to ensure their ultimate success. In efforts to continue his legacy for all boys and girls involved in the 8 school districts, as the Calvin Phillips Scholarship Foundation, we could provide scholarships for selected student athletes to further their education. The scholarships will be offered through a non-profit tax-exempt organization. This will allow those that knew his outstanding work ethic and passion for coaching to keep his legacy alive by providing students the opportunity to become productive young men and women at the next level. The Calvin Phillips Scholarship Foundation will award eligible recipients the opportunity to strive for excellence as the students embark on their new journeys.
